Here’s a First: The “Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru”
It's not the same, but it'll have to do. The State Fair of Texas is doing something it's never done in its 134 year history: the "Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru."
Yep, a drive thru that allows you to still get all the yummy State Fair of Texas food you thought you might miss out on this year.
The State Fair of Texas decided to pull the plug and cancel the fair this year as a result of COVID-19. So although you can't ride the rides or play all the games, you can still enjoy all the foods that have become a staple of the fair, and you can even pay fair prices for all that food. Spoiler alert, it ain't cheap!
According to KCEN, a limited number of tickets will go on-sale on Wednesday, September 2 at 10 a.m. at BigTex.com.
The food and photo package will have a limited number of tickets available for these dates: Sept. 25-27, Oct. 2-4, Oct. 9-12 and Oct. 15-18. Keep in mind that this special promo will not be available on Oct. 10, as that is when the AT&T Red River Showdown football game is planned to happen.
You'll have two separate food and photo packages to choose from, and those will range from $65 to $99. Corny dogs and turkey legs can also be purchased from anywhere between $10 to $24. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the North Texas Food Bank.
See, you can spend all the money you normally would at the state fair, even eat like it's the real thing, but without all those pesky rides.
