Don't let the boarded up doors, or the broken windows with bird flying in and out of it. The Historic Hawn Hotel has potential.

The famous Downtown Temple landmark seems to have new life. According to KWTX, the company that currently owns the Hawn Hotel/Arcadia Theater, Criterion Management Group, plans to invest $8 million dollars into a project to turn the hotel into 24 luxury apartment units.

The Hawn Hotel was put up in 1929, but has stood empty since the late 70s. Managing Principal Bryan Smith said that once the apartments are complete, the company will also renovate the attached Arcadia Theater.

It seems the building has already had some interior demolition and structural tests, and the nest steps will be securing financing, then developing floor plans, and distributing marketing packets. Design and construction plans are expected to be submitted to the city of Temple in the beginning of 2017.
