This is an incredible example of turning a terrible situation into a moment of grace and greatness.

The family of a bride whose groom pulled out of their wedding generously invited area families in need to enjoy the $35,000 worth of food they'd ordered for the reception.

Kari Duane, the bride's mother, told KCRA-TV in Sacramento she felt incredibly sad for her daughter, but decided to turn the situation into a positive experience for area homeless families by sharing the non-refundable catering with them.

"When I found out on Monday that the wedding would not be taking place, it just seemed like of course this would be something we would do to give back," Duane told reporters. “Even though my husband and I were feeling very sad for our daughter, it was heartwarming to see so many people be there and enjoy a meal."

Families packed the dining hall of Sacramento's Citizen Hotel and feasted on appetizers, salad, gnocchi, salmon, and tri-tip roast.

Neither 27-year-old Quinn Duane nor her ex-fiance Landon Borup attended the meal, which is understandable. Still, Quinn and her mother aren't letting a non-refundable honeymoon trip to Belize go to waste either, as they'll be enjoying the trip together. Our hearts go out to Quinn, and hopefully some time on a beautiful beach will help heal her heart.
