When It Comes To Ghosting, Texas Is Surprisingly Chill
As Valentine’s Day gets closer, dating anxiety tends to spike, and for a lot of people, that anxiety has a name: ghosting.
Being left on read, unmatched without warning, or suddenly ignored after a good date has become such a common experience that tens of thousands of Americans are literally Googling why it’s happening to them. But while ghosting worries are rising nationwide, new data suggests Texans aren’t exactly losing sleep over it.
In fact, compared to the rest of the country, Texas is actually pretty unbothered.
Texas Ranks Near the Bottom for Ghosting Anxiety
According to new dating data from matchmaking experts at Sister Wives, Texas ranked 49th out of 50 states when it comes to ghosting-related concerns.
That means Texans are among the least likely to search questions like “why did they ghost me” or “why would someone ghost after a good date.” While other states spiral, Texas shrugs.
Smaller and more rural states dominated the top of the rankings, while large states like Texas, California, and Florida sat comfortably near the bottom.
Why Smaller States Stress Ghosting More
The data shows that ghosting anxiety tends to hit harder in states with smaller populations and tighter dating pools. When there are fewer options, every match can feel higher stakes, and running into someone who ghosted you is far more likely! Yikes!

In bigger states like Texas, dating comes with more flexibility. There are more people, more cities, and more chances to move on without overanalyzing every unanswered text. Options feel broader, and the pressure feels lower.
That difference alone may explain why Texans aren’t rushing to the internet for reassurance.
Texans Take a More Relaxed Approach to Dating
Relationship experts behind the study say ghosting is usually more about avoidance than anything personal, and Texans seem to already understand that.
Instead of chasing closure, the healthier approach is often accepting silence as an answer, processing the disappointment, and moving forward without internalizing it. That mindset shows up clearly in the data, especially when you compare Texas to states where dating circles feel much smaller and more intense.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it’s easy to feel like dating comes with extra pressure. But if this data says anything, it’s that Texas singles aren’t letting ghosting define their love lives.
