Brooks & Dunn's Reboot album only debuted on April 5, but Kacey Musgraves' dance-y duet version of their hit "Neon Moon" is already one of the top-streamed songs on the duo's Spotify page. In fact, alongside Luke Combs' live covers of "Brand New Man," Musgraves' love for the song was part of the reason Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn were inspired to make their new collaborative hits record.

"Kacey [was] doing "Neon Moon" in her show," Brooks explained to The Boot in a recent interview. "Ronnie sends me a copy. He goes, 'Hey, check this out.'"

Musgraves began putting her version of "Neon Moon" in her setlists in early 2018. Dunn was enamored with the way she transformed the '90s country hit.

"It almost had an EDM slant to it. You think, you can play that for a hillbilly singer and writer and that’s not gonna fly," Dunn says, "and I think it’s awesome."

Written by Dunn, "Neon Moon" was originally released by Brooks & Dunn in 1992, as the third single from their debut album, Brand New Man. The song became their third consecutive No. 1 song.

During one of her sold-out shows at the Ryman Auditorium in late February and early March, Musgraves invited Brooks & Dunn to sing "Neon Moon" with her. The studio version of the song is one of 12 collaborations on Reboot, which also features Kane BrownThomas RhettBrett YoungLancoAshley McBrydeMidland and more.
