Saturday was a special day in the city of Mineola. One of their own, country star Kacey Musgraves, came home to play.

Kacey technically grew up just down the road in Golden, and references that fact in her latest single 'Dimestore Cowgirl' from her sophomore album, Pageant Material. She did, however, graduate from Mineola High School.

Wanting to give back to the communities that gave so much her, Kacey decided to come home and host a benefit to help raise funds for the arts and music programs in all five Wood County Schools.

I had the opportunity to visit with Kacey on Friday morning before the concert. In the interview, she mentioned that while she appreciates all healthy outlets for kids, some programs in Texas often get more funding than others.

On Saturday at 11:30, Kacey's crew hosted a lunch for sponsors and friends. At the luncheon she unveiled her new line of boots for Luchassee, which she helped design.

Later that day local talent performed at the Mineola Nature Preserve leading up to performances from Wade Bowen, John and Jacob and Kacey Musgraves.

Local talent included Audrie Stacey, Kyle Austin Davis and others. All involved put on incredible performances. Several of Kacey's biggest fans were in attendance near me including Dayli Sims of Brashear, Texas. Dayli waited all day for a glimpse of Kacey, and was eventually rewarded with a visit.
