KWTX and Killeen PD News are reporting the story of a Killeen resident who shot a suspected burglar around 11:20pm last night in the 200 block of Mary Jane Street in Killeen.

The person suspected of trying to break in was later identified because of a gun shot wound that matched up with the weapon fired by the resident.

A man living at the address told KWTX that he heard the sound of breaking glass at the front door and heard someone trying to break in. He then told officers he fired several shots at the front door and whoever it was ran away.

Police received word about a man seeking treatment for a gunshot wound at Metroplex Hospital. Police said in a media release said the injured suspect was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon. Three other suspects were in the Killeen City Jail.

Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to contact crime stoppers at (254) 526-TIPS.
