My family loves living so close to Killeen because of its placement at the edge of Texas Hill Country, and all of the outdoor wonder, beauty, and adventure that comes with that. Which is why we are always on the hunt for another great family outing that purposefully includes as many steps as little legs can handle because mum and dad want to enjoy the promise of a peaceful night that can only be granted three exhausted kiddos.
Is the best hiking trail in Killeen, Texas good for taking your dog?
Yes, the Eagle Nature Trail is a great place to take the dog on a long walk, and your furry adventure buddy is always welcome as long as you keep them on a leash. Our family likes to take our pug along because she loves walks, but she often ends up using the off road stroller meant to provide relief for our 3 year old.

If you are looking to try this three mile loop that is almost entirely flat and travels through the Eagle Nature Preserve that features a gorgeous lake and darling little pond, I would recommend taking a picnic in your backpack and make a day of it. Of course, you can always just do the whole thing in about an hour, and then begin your next hiking trail search.
