Hey Killeen, Texas, Is This The Most Popular Ice Cream Flavor?
Ah, ice cream! The perfect treat on a hot summer day in Texas. The last time I looked, there were about 450 different flavors to choose from.
Go into just about any ice cream shop and you’ll see what I mean. Sometimes it’s hard to narrow down what you actually want because of all the options.
National Ice Cream Month
Let's break down ice cream flavors by the numbers. According to The Daily Meal, the U.S. produces more than six billion pounds of ice cream and frozen yogurt every year.
July is National Ice Cream Month, which makes sense as Killeen, Texas temps are close to their peak, and ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner sounds awesome.
We love ice cream so much that we each eat an average of 22 pounds a year, and July is the month in which we eat the most.
Most Popular Ice Cream
The The Daily Meal reports that according to Instacart, the most purchased ice cream flavor in every state is vanilla.
'Chocolate Chocolate Chip' was the most popular in 24 states. 'Moose Tracks' and Rocky Road are also very popular, and in several states 'Green Tea' also had a strong showing.
Most Popular Ice Cream in Texas
Apparently there is one particular flavor that Texans prefer the most.
It's one that never comes to my mind when I think of my 'favorite' ice cream. However, according to the results, besides vanilla, rainbow sherbet was the most purchased flavor in Texas. Rainbow sherbet was also the most popular in Arkansas, Montana, and Kansas.
Rainbow sherbet? Really? How do you feel about that?
To each his own I guess, but I'm having a hard time accepting that rainbow sherbet is the most popular ice cream flavor in Texas. I'm going vanilla all the way, but when I need something to spice it up a bit, I go with vanilla and pineapple. So good!
