Let’s Celebrate, Killeen Set to Open New Food Truck Park on Saturday
I may be dating myself here, but I remember when the only "food truck" we'd ever see was the one the ice cream man would drive. Killeen's new food truck park opens this Saturday, and the party is more than just food trucks.
Man do I love a good food truck. I even kind of like a bad food truck, although it's rare that I even come across one.
I may just be in love with the idea of the food truck in general. Something about a food truck just feels more personal, like having your own personal chef. It even seems like something I could do. In fact, it has crossed my mind more than once.
I love seeing food trucks when I'm out running around town. I always stop to note what food truck I see and where it is so I can come back and try whatever it is they're serving up later.
CHOICES CHOICES CHOICES
The food truck industry has exploded over the last 5-10 years or so. No longer is it just a guy serving ice cream from an old mail truck or something. Now there is just about everything you could imagine available served from a food truck.
From coffee, BBQ, tacos, burgers, pizza, mac n cheese, and sweet treats, to authentic Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and just about everything else - if it can be cooked, it can be served from a food truck these days.
The rise in popularity for food trucks has led to new food truck parks being built across the country. Here in Central Texas, you can find those parks in Waco, Temple, Austin, and now Killeen.
The Killeen Daily Herald reports that Killeen’s International Cuisine Korner & Artisans Marketplace (aka Kick It) is set to have a "soft" opening on Saturday, October 2 from 10a-6p. The park is on 2 acres, and is located at 4103 E. Stan Schlueter Loop. In addition to some great local food trucks, there will also be vendors, games, live music, and more.
The food truck that will be there on Saturday are Mon’ Amie’s Caribbean Flava Ice, Vic’s Kountry Touch BBQ, Cuatro Tacos, and Detroit’s Own.
THE PARK IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS
Following Saturday's soft opening, the park will remain open Monday - Friday from 10-8p and Sundays from noon - 6p. If you own a food truck and want to join the new park, find out more and get an application at Kickitctx.com.
