Local Teacher Charged For Sexual Relationship with Student
A woman in Central Texas was charged for reportedly having sex with her 15-year-old male student.
According to a report from the New York Post, a math teacher who worked at Bastrop High School was recently charged with a second degree felony for having a sexual relationship with one of her students.
Round Rock police arrested the 25-year-old teacher, Hailey Pardy, on Thursday, July 30. Pardy posted a $100,000 bond and has since been released from Bastrop County Jail.
Investigators say Pardy began an improper relationship with her student in December of 2018, but the school was not aware of the situation until an anonymous tip came in approximately 9 months later.
“The action of this teacher does not represent the more than 1,300 caring, dedicated and talented educators who make up Bastrop ISD,” district spokesman Kristi Lee said. “The foundation of the teacher-student relationship is one of trust, and when that trust is violated, it angers and saddens us.”
Bastrop High school placed Pardy on immediate administrative leave, and later the school board unanimously voted to fire her. Pardy had just recently started at the high school months before she became entangled with her student.
