Christmas is my favorite time of year to bake, and over the last two nights I have attempted to recreate a couple of my favorite holiday pins from Pinterest.

I love to make cookies and cakes, but I'm out of practice and so I wasn't quite sure how these would actually turn out. The flavor was great, but the cookies didn't blossom quite like they needed to - instead they fell flat.

I got the recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction, something I had pinned last year when looking for Holiday Ideas, but never got around to trying. I disregarded her suggestion to use a specific type of flour, but now realize why she suggested it.

I also used a larger candy-like sprinkle than she did, and I was not pleased with the gooey-gel like results I got. I will definitely go with the traditional small round sprinkle in the future.

The second batch did a little bit better than the first.

Tonight, the plan is to ice the gingerbread cookies that I baked last night. It's become a three day event. I combined the ingredients to make the dough on Monday and baked last night till 11:00 pm. It's a good thing there have been great Christmas Movies on the TV.
