Mario Lopez Playing Sexy Colonel Sanders in Lifetime Movie ‘Recipe for Seduction’
The Lifetime network is just messing with us at this point, right?
That's the only explanation for 'Recipe for Seduction', in which Mario Lopez will star as a hunky, Harlequin Romance book cover version of Colonel Sanders.
You know what? I'm going to do a little something different with this article. In the first half, I'm going to give you my prediction of what this movie will be about. Then I'll look up the official synopsis to tell you what it's really about. Let's have some fun and see what (if anything) I accurately predict.
My Prediction
Mario Lopez plays Colonel Ken Tucker Sanders, heir to the KFC empire and the secret, finger-lickin' good recipe. He's a billionaire playboy who couldn't care less about the family business and just wants to sleep with hot ladies and spend all that delicious chicken money.
Ken leaves the day-to-day stuff in the hands of Sam Salt (I don't know where the name came from), who's out to find some way to steal the franchise and the fortune out from under Ken.
Sam discovers a clause in the original Colonel Sanders' will that stipulates that each Sanders heir must be married by Christmas Day of their 47th year (because according to Google, that's Lopez's age), or they lose the company and it goes to the Salt family.
Ken meets Sandra Little, who works at KFC Corporate. The two have instant chemistry, and she seduces Ken and convinces him to change his philandering ways.
Lovey-dovey montages and antics ensue, but we eventually find out Sandra was hired by Sam Salt to seduce Ken, then leave him at the alter.
Ken is furious and heartbroken at first, but it turns out Sandra really loves him, and in the end their love triumphs and Ken and Sandra become Mr. and Mrs. Sanders in a Christmas Eve ceremony.
Is that enough shmaltz for you? Ok, let's see how I did.
What It's Actually About
PR Newswire offers this synopsis:
While enjoying the delicious taste of the Colonel's secret 11 Herbs & Spices, viewers can share in all the drama of this steamy holiday love affair as they watch a young heiress contend with the affections of a suitor handpicked by her mother. But when a handsome, young chef with a secret fried chicken recipe and a dream arrives, he sets in motion a series of events that unravel the mother's devious plans.
So you've got an heiress who's set up with someone by a third party with a dastardly plan. I was on the right track there, but check out the trailer below. I couldn't come close to predicting how hilariously off the rails this mini-movie is going to be.
You may be asking yourself, "Did KFC give them permission to do this?"
Oh boy, did they ever. There's even a deal with Uber Eats for free extra crispy tenders when you order $20 or more worth of food. It's all detailed here on PR Newswire.
When the poster for 'Recipe for Seduction' came up in my Twitter feed, I honestly thought it was a joke. However, I'd be lying if I said my interest wasn't piqued when I found out it's an extra crispy reality.
I am definitely setting my DVR.
'Recipe for Seduction' premieres Sunday, December 13 at Noon Eastern.
