Shark Tank’s Mark Cuban Is Now the Proud Owner of Mustang, Texas

Shark Tank host and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is now the proud owner of a Mustang. Not the bad-ass muscle car, but the actual, entire town of Mustang, Texas.

Mustang is a 77-acre town about 55 miles south of Dallas along I-45 with a gruesome past. The Corsicana Daily Sun reports that back on Oct. 1, 2008, Fernando Ramirez was beaten to death outside the strip club known as Whispers by the house DJ.

Strip clubs and murders aside, Mustang is home to a now abandoned strip club,  volunteer fire department, and a trailer park where 20-some people live. Plus, according to listing agent Michael Turner, Mustang also comes with its own resident alligator.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Cuban bought the town last month, but isn't yet sure what he plans to do with it. Cuban said in an email announcing the purchase that, "I don’t know what if anything I will do with it,"  and that he only bought it because his good friend needed to offload it.

Mustang, Texas is in Navarro County and was founded in the early 1970's. It was a place where most of the nearby people would go to drink, since the rest of the county prohibited liquor.

The town went up for sale in 2017 for $4 million, but was reduced to $2 million. It never sold 'til Cuban purchased it last month. No word on what Cuban paid for it.
