LOL Good One, But Who’s Responsible for This Miniature Buc-ee’s?
20 miles East of Marathon, Texas and visible from U.S Highway 90 sits what may be the smallest Buc-ee's you'll ever see.
Buc-ee's
Buc-ee's is a well known Texas staple. Yes, they have expanded outside the great state of Texas in recent years, but the Buc-ee's brand will always be synonymous with the Lone Star State. Perhaps the cleanest bathrooms you'll ever encounter on the road can be found inside a Buc-ee's, not to mention the wall of snacks and all those barbecue sandwiches.
No road trip is complete without at least one bag of Beaver Nuggets, am I right?
Aside from the wall of snacks, you'll also find anywhere between 80 and 120 gas pumps and enough knickknacks to finish off just about any Christmas shopping list.
But you'll find none of that here.
Miniature Buc-ee's
This tiny Buc-ee's doesn't offer any of the amenities that we've come to love and expect from our favorite roadside attraction. No wall of snacks, no world's cleanest bathrooms, no gas pumps or knickknack anywhere on the premises. Not even a single Beaver Nugget can be found anywhere.
Miniature Target
Does any of this seem familiar to you? You might remember Marathon, Texas as the home to the now demolished "World's Smallest Target" store.
Yes the building looks familiar, but the Target was demolished a year or two ago.
Who's Responsible?
Well that's where the mystery really begins. Who's handywork is this? Nobody has stepped up to take credit for it yet, but rumor has it that San Antonio based artist Matt Tumlinson may have something to do with it (although he denies it).
Tumlinson tells MySA, "I've heard rumors it was a west Texas Banksy."
Well, whatever the case, we may never know who is responsible. If you ever find yourself close to Marathon, Texas, keep an eye open and take advantage of a cool photo op.
