Off Duty Officer Acts to Save Woman in Harker Heights
An unnamed police officer in Harker Heights was able to break up an assault happening on Friday night after seeing a man chasing down a woman while shooting at her.
News 10 says Harker Heights police reported the incident on Monday and recounted the story of the unidentified officer who was able to stop the man firing the weapon and save the woman's life.
Police have identified the shooter as Ronnell Lamont Brown. Brown was detained by the off duty officer until other officers could arrive. The woman Brown was chasing had suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks and another to the ankle. This all happened after 9 p.m. on Friday night near Travis Lane and Beeline Lane in Harker Heights. The unidentified woman was taken to Scott and White Medical in Temple for surgery.
Brown is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, family violence, and possession of a firearm by a felon according to HH Police.
