Pepperoni May Be in Short Supply Due to COVID-19
One of the most poplar pizza toppings in America is starting to be harder to find these days.
First it was toilet paper, disinfectant wipes, and Dr. Pepper, and now pepperoni is reportedly becoming scarce because of the effects of the coronavirus on worker availability.
Also, a New York pizzeria says it's paying $6 a pound for the product. That's up from $4 a pound earlier this year.
Other news outlets like USA Today are reporting on the pepperoni shortage and how it's affecting small pizza shops.
According to the reports, pork processors are struggling to find workers to help with the intensive process of making the pepperoni. The companies are just sending out large chunks of meat that will still need to be processed.
I never dreamed we'd have a shortage of pepperoni in a millions years, but who would have ever thought we'd be living in a pandemic like we are now?
Stay safe out there, and have some pepperoni pizza while you still can. It may be a little tougher to come by if this situation gets too out of hand. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
