Texas Included in Recall of Purina Dog Food
Taking care of our furry friends in Texas is very important. I mean, who doesn't love seeing a dog pop their head out a window while a car is stopped at a red light? Also just playing with puppies is what some describe as "heaven."
But besides playing with our furry friends, you have to make sure they're taken care of and fed properly. Various different types of food exist for every animal, so there are choices for owners. However sometimes though, special food is required for any animals when they aren't feeling their best.
One food that is given to owners only via prescription has been recalled after it was discovered the food in question does more harm than good to dogs.
Purina Dog Food Recall Across The Nation
The United States Food and Drug Administration recently announced that Veterinary Diets EL Elemental Dry Dog Food which is produced by Purina, is under a recall for higher levels of Vitamin D in the food. While Vitamin D is important to an dog's overall health and well being, too much of it could be a bad thing.
Vitamin D Toxicity, as is it called, results in various effects to dogs, such as excessive drooling, renal (kidney) dysfunction, vomiting, loss of appetite, increased urination, and increased thirst.
If you have recently been prescribed the food, you are encouraged to simply throw away the food. If your dog has consumed some of the food in question and shown symptoms listed above, owners are encouraged to speak to their veterinarian.
