The Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House has cared for the families of sick children for 51 years. Since its beginning in the 1970's, The Ronald McDonald House has expanded globally, helping families when their children need healthcare.
The Beginning of the Ronald McDonald House
Everything begins with a need, and in the story of the Ronald McDonald House, the need arose in 1974. Kim, the daughter of Philadelphia Eagles tight-end Fred Hill, developed leukemia, resulting in a need for a place for the family to stay nearby while Kim received treatment. Fred collaborated with co-founder Dr. Audrey Evans to make the need a reality. By 1979,10 additional Ronald McDonald houses were created across the United States.
