Temple Bar Transforms Into Morning Coffee Hub Following Mall Fire Code Closure
The Temple Mall may be closed, but that doesn't mean you can't get that cup of coffee from Peggy's Coffee House!
Local Shop Owners Pivot as Safety Violations Shutter Temple Mall
The Temple Mall is locked down due to major fire code violations. According to KWTX, the recent enforcement action by local code inspectors stopped all daily business operations inside the mall, placing local businesses in an uncomfortable position.
Candy and More, Under My Skin, and Peggy’s Coffee House
Three of the businesses caught in the crosshairs following the Temple Mall closure are owned by entrepreneur Rob Brandenburg. Candy and More, Under My Skin, and the popular local staple Peggy’s Coffee House were all affected by the closure, so Brandenburg immediately put a contingency plan into motion to ensure his employees would continue to receive paychecks.
Neighbors on 7th
Brandenburg is also the owner of the bar Neighbors on 7th and since the venue also carries products from his coffee brand, it only made sense to relocate Peggy’s to Neighbors. The layout of the bar allowed the staff to serve early morning and afternoon crowds before the tavern opened for business each evening.
Protecting Staff and Waiting on Progress
This creative temporary layout has successfully shielded his employees from sudden unemployment while city officials and mall management hammer out structural solutions. Brandenburg expects that mall tenants will not be held financially responsible for rent during the days they are locked out of their shops.
Open for Business!
Starting Wednesday, July 1, the temporary satellite location for Peggy's Coffee House inside Neighbors On 7th will officially begin welcoming customers, running dedicated daylight hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
