A Copperas Cove resident paid out over 150 thousand dollars in a  telephone sweepstakes scam.   KXXV reports that each week over the course of this past year, the victim was sending between $300 and $400 to people who claimed she had won multiple sweepstakes worth  $2.5 million.  But she never got any winnings so she contacted police.

Last week the victim told Copperas Cove Police that these people who claimed to be from Canada, Russia, Florida and Jamaica kept calling her promising a multi-million dollar pay out. She said she would load money onto a prepaid credit card and they would access the money via the card.

They claimed once they received the money they needed, they would then send the winnings to the victim.  She never got any money.

And police say, she will likely never get her money back. Police continue to investigate.
