2016 UIL Football State Championships 2016 Football Conference 5A D1
The Temple Wildcats made the rest of the state of Texas pay attention after routing favorites Port Arthur Memorial 39-7 on Saturday in the Regional Semifinal of Class 5A Division I playoffs. After Port Arthur took the lead 7-0 in the first, the Wildcat defense completely clamped down - forcing two safeties and a kick return TD - allowing the Temple to score 39 UNANSWERED points.

The Wildcats next face Marvel at AT&T Stadium in Arlington this Saturday at 9 p.m.

There are only two ways to get tickets - online with Ticketmaster or at the stadium on game day.

Tickets purchased at the stadium will cost $15. Parking costs $10 at the stadium and Temple fans are assigned to Lot #1, 2, 3 and 10.

There will be an official charter bus, courtesty of the Temple Quarterback Club. Click the photo below for more details.

Some amazing Wildcats stats to boot, courtest of MaxPreps.com:

  • Reid Hesse: 18-37 for 318 yards, TD, 3 INT
  • Jemiyah Franklin: 5 carries, 25 yards, TD
  • Anthony Jefferson: 4 carries, 40 yards, TD
  • Zion Leach: 11 carries, 23 yards, TD
  • Zacc Johnson: 6 receptions, 145 yards
  • D'yonte Heckstall: 3 receptions, 64 yards, TD

Though we do not have defensive statistics available, the Wildcats' defense arguably played its best game in recent history - shutting down a team that averages over 40 points per game. Plus, when was the last time you've seen a high school football team force two safeties in one game!?

Let's also brag about her first year head coach Scott Stewart who set a record 10 wins in his first Wildcats season. Only three other coaches had nine-victory debuts.

The Wildcats will face undefeated Marvel in the Regional Finals this Saturday, December 3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. There are only 8 teams left vying for the State Championship - and Temple is one of them. Temple will be the home team and Wildcat fans will sit on the North side of the stadium.
