A Texas has been arrested for giving his nine-year-old daughter a chocolate bar with marijuana in it. Whether you are a proponent for the legalization of marijuana or not, everyone can pretty much agree that children shouldn't be given THC infused edibles.

Where in Texas Did This Happen?

Anong Inthavong is a 47-year-old resident of Houston, and he took his daughter to the Texas Children's Hospital West Campus on Friday, February 14th. Hospital staff called and reported the incident to the Constable after it became apparent that the child was under the influence of some sort of toxic substance.

What is Happening to the Texas Father?

According to KENS5, Inthavong has a $15,000 bond, and he is being held in the Harris County jail. He was scheduled to return to court today, but there hasn't been an update released at this time.

THC Laws in Texas

At this time the recreational use of marijuana is still illegal. In 2019 there were some forms of the cannabis plant that were legalized. The type of weed known as Delta-8 has been legalized due to its classification as a hemp instead of marijuana because of the amount of THC in it. Texas politicians are currently pushing to have Delta-8 reclassified so that it will also be considered illegal.
