A company in San Antonio has assembled the first ever drive-in funeral service.

According to an update from Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries, COVID-19 services will be offered at no additional charge to families looking to adapt their funeral services.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I am so impressed at the diligence that has been put forth in the midst of these peculiar times.

It's hard to lose a loved one at any time in life, but it's especially difficult when there's a pandemic occurring and mandatory social distancing procedures in effect. Mission Park understands the stress that it adds when planning a funeral service, and has created an ingenious solution.

The new drive-in funeral theater will offer families a chance to hold services while remaining safe in their vehicle. Surrounding yourself with closed loved ones is typically what a lot of people do when dealing with a loss, and social distancing has certainly changed our normal routines.

Mission Park is offering online streaming of services for those who would like to attend from their own home. Utilizing a four camera system, the online streaming service will cover not only the funeral home but the church and grave-site as well.

Do you think funeral homes in our area should do something similar?
