Texas Rent Relief Portal Closed After Receiving 70,000 Applications
Back in early March, I shared the news about the return of a Texas rent relief program that could help families still struggling in the wake of COVID-19, as well as the inflation we've experienced over the past couple of years.
I hoped to see people in need apply quickly, and boy did they. Demand for help was so swift and so high that the application portal is now closed.
YOU CAN STILL FIND HELP
According to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, requests for help exceeded available funding within 24 hours of the application process opening up on March 14.
That doesn't mean you can't still get help, though. It's just going to take a little time for them to get more funds.
If you could use help now, call 2-1-1 or visit the Help for Texans website. If you live in the Central Texas area, you can also request assistance from the Hill Country Community Action organization, United Way, or the Central Texas Food Bank.
Meanwhile, watch the Texas Rent Relief website's Announcements page for updates, and we'll let you know as well when we see anything pop up.
