Killeen, Texas has so many attributes that makes it an amazing place to work and live, but I can't really think of anything more appealing than its perfect placement at the edge of Texas Hill Country. Obviously, you can't go north of town because you will run into the post at Fort Cavazos, and you will have to take 190 a pretty good distance east from Killeen before you find a good place to go camping, but that beautiful gateway to the west and southwest portions of Texas can't be ignored.

Without having to bring all of the data of the benefits to spending ample time outdoors, it is impossible to be outside and not at least feel like you feel better. Sure, it may be just a placebo effect, but who does not want the endorphin kick?

My kids love going to summer camp. They love it so much they literally attend a summer camp for 8 out of the 10 full weeks they are home for the summer, and we try to fill the other two weeks with additional adventures like real camping.

I get it, camping is not for everyone which is why they also have several glamping options like recreational vehicles, or cabins placed in serene wilderness escapes. Personally, if there is refreshing water or a float trip attached, I can tolerate the heat of the day to enjoy those wide open, beautiful, star lit skies.
