Every day for the last couple weeks I'm writing about some Bill that governor Gregg Abbott has signed, I think the Governor's secretary forgot to check the mail for a bit and they are playing catch up. Anyway, today will be no different, on Tuesday House Bill 3 was signed and will make an impact across the state.

The law infuses more money into school and teachers salaries while lowering school property tax rates. The pay raise details vary from district to district based on a handful of factors. KVUE reports that Austin ISD is one of the first districts to receive said details.

Faculty members in the capital city with at least five years experience will earn a five percent raise and everyone else will get a six percent bump up. Again with the details still up in the air, this could be one of the higher funding changes, but we'll have to wait and see.

Most of the changes should be finalized by the start of the school year.
