ALERT: Texas, Throw Away These Infected Walnuts As Soon As Possible
The United States Food And Drug Administration has recently announced a recall of certain type of food. Here's what is known at the time of writing.
Details Of The Recall From The FDA
According to release from the FDA, the product in question is Gibson Farms Organic Light Halves and Pieces. The boxes that are under the recall are 25 lbs. The FDA also states that Gibson Farms made the decision themselves to take the product off shelves.
At the time of writing, 12 people became sick due to the product mentioned. Also reported that an inquiry had already begun into how the product was infected. What the walnuts had been tainted with was none other then E.coli.
How E.coli Affects The Body, And Where The Product Was Sold
The FDA reports that E.coli, otherwise known as E. coli O157:H7, can cause diarrhea. This also results in, as they state, bloody stools. Some individuals may simply get better over time after dealing with it, but others may not have the same experience.
E.coli, as reported, may cause Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, which is a kind of kidney failure. This potentially could also damage one's kidneys, or even cause the death of the person in question.
To identify if you've purchased the item, you can use the lot number. Lot numbers identified as contaminated are 3325-043 & 3341-501 and having expiration dates of 5/21/25 & 6/7/25. You can also see where they were sold here.
As this is a developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.
