KXAN reveals the main issue with Fireworms: the bristles they have on them. While one could look at a Fireworm and face no issues, touching one poses a much greater risk. The previously mentioned bristles could leave one in a major amount of pain.

Per Ocean Conservancy, if an individual touches bristle of the animal, a reaction that is considered defensive will happen from the Fireworm. Not only will the person be stung, but the effect will last for a while. The person will indeed feel pain, as well as possibly becoming dizzy or feeling nauseous.

So simply put, if one sees a fireworm in the Lone Star State, it probably for the best that you outright avoid it all together!
