Thousands Sign Petition To Get Michael Vick Removed From Pro Bowl Captains List
Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick has been named one of the legend captains at the 2020 Pro Bowl.
This caused an "uproar" among certain folks who think they stand for animal rights.
Vick spent 19 months in prison back in 2007 for bankrolling a dogfighting operation. A terrible thing to be a part of, but it's not as if he has done nothing to prove he is a changed man since his conviction.
While serving his time Vick developed a relationship with the Humane Society of the United States where he was a part of multiple anti-dogfighting campaigns. He's spoken at many events where he openly tells his story and spreads the message of forgiveness.
Texomas reports that more than 170,000 people have signed a petition to remove Vick on chang.org. Isn't that hypocritical of something associated with the word "change" to not accept that a man has grown and changed?
Did he only grow because he was caught? Probably yes. Has he said and done things he regrets? Who hasn't? Many continue to make the same mistakes over and over, but someone who tries to improve is someone to admire.
Why are we so stuck on holding on to hate?
I'm all about standing up for something. And if you love animals that's a wonderful thing to fight for. But tearing down someone who is doing his best to rebuild and improve is truly something to be ashamed of.
