They say, "Till death do us part", and it seems that one woman was ready to expedite that process last Friday. A man was shot by his wife while he was sitting on the toilet.

Shooting Incident and Arrest:

Paulette Smith, 69-years-old, has been arrested for battery with a deadly weapon. Police were called and responded to the 2900 block of Lafayette Road around 4pm on March 21 due to a reported shooting.

Victim's Condition and Initial Statements:

When the officers arrived, they found the husband was injured in the leg from a gunshot wound. The man was transported to the hospital while in stable condition. He is expected to make a full recovery.

️ Investigation and Witness Accounts:

The police began their investigation immediately upon their arrival to the scene of the shooting. They were able to speak to the victim before EMTs transported him to the hospital, and the man told the police that his wife was angered at him for talking to the neighbors while he was working on his truck.

The Toilet Confrontation:

The police continued their investigation by interviewing any witnesses in the area. They were able to determine that while the couple was married, they actually resided in separate residents in the same apartment building.

Woman's Refusal to Speak:

On the day in question, the woman came home, and the victim was outside working on his call while speaking with the neighbors. The man went into his wifes apartment to use the bathroom, and according to him, she came into the room waving a gun around asking, "You think I'm playing? You think I'm playing?" The man did in fact think that his wife was playing, but she was not, in fact, playing. The woman was very serious, so when the man smiled at her she shot him in the leg.

The woman refused to answer any of the detectives' questions, and she said that she wanted a lawyer.
