Parents of students at Venable Village Elementary School received word on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 that their children had been removed from the school. Here's what we know at the current point in time.

Details About The Situation

According to the Killeen Daily-Herald, this notice was sent to all parents on Wednesday morning:

“Venable Village has been evacuated due to a threat of violence by a parent. All students and staff have been evacuated and Military Police are on scene. We have the students in a safe area. Please do NOT come to the campus at this time. Check email for more info-KISD."

Some parents and grandparents expressed concern to the Herald, with one mother of a child at the school stating they were confused as to why they moved the children outside of the school.

It was also reported that teachers were also perplexed in regards to the evacuation.

While KISD previously mentioned all students are safe and sound, we have reached out to the Fort Cavazos Media Center for further information.

As this is a developing story, stay tuned for updates.
