Waco Vet Convicted for Child Sex Trafficking
A 38-year-Army veteran named Clyde Vanterpool, was sentenced to two 99 year prison terms for child sex trafficking.
According to our news partners at KWTX, in December 2015, two boys from the Waco Center for Youth ran away from the facility. The boys reported to authorities that Vanterpool picked them up at Cameron park and promised to buy them a carton of cigarettes.
The boys were taken to a private residence where Vanterpool supplied them with alcohol until they were intoxicated. Clyde Vanterpool then sexually assaulted the two boys and both lost consciousness. When the boys awoke, they requested a ride back to the park and Vanterpool obliged.
A report was made to the police and Vanterpool was arrested in June 2016. Vanterpool was originally indicted in October 2016 on two counts of trafficking persons and three counts of sexual assault of a child. Prosecutors later dropped the three counts of sexual assault in lieu of the trafficking charges.
