Selena Quintanilla, the late Tejano singer will be portrayed in a new series on Netflix in 2020.

Many can recall the original 1997 biopic of Selena, with Jenifer Lopez taking on the role of the Queen of cumbia. To do this day, I cannot watch the film without sobbing uncontrollably. I know, not cute! Honestly I can barely speak of Selena without shedding some tears.

As a Texas native and Mexican-American, Selena quickly became an idol to many. Not only was she gorgeous and talented, but she was genuinely a sweet and down to earth person. Selena was known in her community and also took part in numerous charities.

Selena was murdered at the young age of 23, by the president of her fan club.  While 24 years have passed since Selena's passing, her legacy is still thriving. In recent years Selena has been commemorated with Fiesta de La Flor, a festival in Corpus Christi celebrating her life.

USA Today reported Tuesday, that the new Netflix Selena Series will consist of six episodes that are one hour each.

The series will premiere in 2020 and will feature Christian Serratos as Selena Quintanilla.

Now, as a major Selena fan, "me siento muy, mi siento muy...excited!"

I hope to see Selena's impact last for many more generations, and if this series can help preserve that, then I'm all for it.
