Why Should Miranda Lambert Win Album of the Year?
When Miranda Lambert released "The Weight of These Wings" I had to convince so many of friends to actually listen to the album. My co-worker at the time went off on a tangent about how horrid the album was. A friend told me, "There is maybe one good song on there." It blew my mind, have we lost the art of listening to an album the whole way through? Do you ever listen to an album when it first comes out from start to finish? I love a 30 minute drive because I can hear a full album the way the artist intended you to. Luckily Miranda kept pushing with "Tin Man" and it's now sounding beautiful on the radio!
"The Weight of These Wings" tells a story. A genuine story. Divorce sucks, its messy and it hurts. I loved that Miranda Lambert poured her heart out. Perhaps music really does heal. Lambert took us through all the crazy stages of heartbreak. The album opens up with "Runnin' Just in Case" she ends the song with "Happiness ain't freedom but there's freedom in a broken heart." This year my families "Holland Corn Fest 2017" anthem was "Pink Sunglasses" I don't know how that song became our anthem for the day, but it just makes you feel like you have no worry with your pink sunglasses which we still need to buy.
Miranda opened up about her newfound love with fellow artist Anderson East. She opened up about her hesitance to fall in love again with "Well Rested". You want country? She delivered. "Well, this moment is heavy For me, I'm not ready Like a caged bird barely set free Forgive me, I'm finding my wings"
