Why Texas is the Perfect Movie Setting: Diverse Landscapes & Hollywood Appeal
Texas is big, and I'm not just talking about square miles. Texas has different landscapes, cultures, and environments between its borders. All of this diversity makes Texas a great setting for movies across all different genres
Texas Stars Lobby for Increased Film Incentives
Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are two of the many actors from Texas that are pushing the state to increase funding for film incentives in hopes that the Hollywood movie studios will view the Lone Star state as it's favorite filming location. The two superstars are lobbying for $500 million dollars to be put toward the filming incentives.
Texas Offers Unmatched Location Variety for Filmmakers
Texas should be very appealing to the studios because of everything it has to offer in regard to filming on location. The vast amounts of scenery make it possible to film everything from a scene on Mars to a board meeting in big city sky rise and everything in between. There are deserts, lush forests, coastlines and every type of urban environment that you could imagine.
Potential for Studio Development and Economic Growth in Texas Film
The amount of property available would also make it possible for the film producers to build studio lots. There are already existing studios in Austin and Dallas, and with the proposed incentives it would encourage more production companies to bring their films (and money) to Texas.
The Local Pride of Seeing Texas on the Big Screen
Cinephiles are always excited to see scene shot in a movie that happens to be somewhere that they have been to and are familiar with. There is a certain sense of pride that you feel knowing that your hometown or favorite bar was used as a location in a big movie production.
I personally can't wait for more movies to be filmed in Texas, and in the meantime, I'm going to go watch some of my favorite movies that take place in Texas.
Here is a list of some of the best movies set in Texas.
