
8 Awesome UMHB Summer Camps for Kids
Those three months that all parents dread, June, July, and August, will be among us very soon. If you are anything like me, I do not at all look forward to the phrase "I am bored" being yelled at me on a daily basis from my school-age children. Fortunately, UMHB has got us parents covered. Here is a list of the summer camps being offered by UMHB.

UMHB College of Nursing
The UMHB College of Nursing will be offering a summer camp from June 12-18 that will provide upper level high school students the opportunity to experience nursing school and college life at UMHB. The summer program will include four facets: academics, spirit and traditions of UMHB, faith and learning, and campus life. The Explore program is designed for highly motivated junior and senior high school students. Participants will stay in residence halls, eat in the dining hall, and engage in fun social activities.

All-State Choir Camp
All-State Choir Camp is open to high school choir students who would like to prepare for the TMEA All-State Choir auditions July 12-15. Camp includes sectional rehearsals, one private voice lesson, sight singing, and audition hints. Boarding student’s tuition is $385.00; includes music packet, one private voice lesson, and 9 meals. Commuting student’s tuition is $285.00; includes music packet, one private voice lesson, and 6 meals. Free tuition is offered for 2016 All-State Choir Members.

Drum Major/Color Guard Camp
Drum Major and Color Guard Camp is July 11-15. The UMHB Department of Music partners with the Steven Moss Leadership Academy to offer Drum Majors conducting, teaching and leadership skills and Color Guard technical training, performance quality, development of movement skills and confidence. Boarding student's tuition is $430.00; includes room and 12 meals. Commuting student's tuition is $335.00; includes 8 meals.

Jr. Summer Musical Camp
The Conservatory of Music offers the Jr. Summer Musical Camp 2016, "The Amazing Grace Race" to students who are interested in exploring Musical Theater. This one-week camp is offered to students age eight to 12 years of age. Student must be eight years old on August 1, 2015 to participate. Auditions are not necessary to register for camp.

Private Muscial Lessons
The Conservatory offers private instruction in all musical instruments, including voice. Lessons are individually designed for each student according to age, ability, and personal goals. Lessons are one-on-one with a conservatory faculty member and are taught in Presser Hall on the UMHB Campus. Students sign up for each semester. Instrumental instruction will begin with basic fundamentals of playing and performing. Students will be encouraged to experience a variety of musical styles. For students 12 years or older.

Summer Art Camp
Summer Art Camp at UMHB is July 12-15. The camp will include sessions on two-dimensional art (drawing) and three-dimensional art (sculpture). Two university art faculty members, Hershall Seals and Hugo Shi, will be teaching the camp. A gallery presentation will be held on the last day of camp where family members and guests are welcome to attend. Boarder student’s tuition is $350.00; includes art supplies, room and 9 meals. Commuter student’s tuition is $250.00; includes art supplies and 6 meals. This camp is for students in their sophomore and junior years of high school.

Youth Summer Art Camp
Youth Summer Art Workshops for students seven to 12 years of age is June 27 – July 1 and August 1 -5. Relevant projects and age appropriate art materials covering drawing, painting, and sculpture with art history components will be included in this camp. There is a 12 student limit per class and workshops will be held in the Baugh Center for the Visual Arts on the UMHB Campus.

Multiple Sport Camps
Multiple sport camps to include baseball, Boys and Girls basketball, football, softball, tennis and volleyball will be offered at UMHB from June to August.
