Texas A&M’s Beloved Mascot Is Recovering Well
The First Lady of Aggieland, Reveille X, is taking a much-deserved rest after undergoing successful surgery to address a painful eye disease.
What Do We Know About Reveille X's Condition
Aggies all over the state of Texas were informed, thanks to an update from Texas A&M President General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III, that their beloved mascot was diagnosed with glaucoma in her right eye.
How is Texas A&M Treating Their Mascot
Though the university attempted to manage the issue, the doctors decided it was best to relieve Miss Rev's discomfort with surgery, and upon further examination, the doctors made the difficult decision to remove the eye because of the abnormal tissue.
Will Reveille X Remain on the Team as the Mascot
She made it through the surgery fine, as the strong and spirited Rough Collie she is, and is now recovering well. Per the university's world-class veterinarian team, Miss Rev is expected to be up to her normal ways this fall. She'll be back in "Rev Force One," cheering on the Aggies, and keeping campus squirrels in line.
A Reminder for Pet Owners
Don't let Reveille's message simply be an update for Aggies who follow their First Lady of Aggieland. Let this be a reminder for all pet owners. Her care team responded quickly the moment they noticed extreme discomfort and cloudiness in her eye. That quick response probably saved her unnecessary pain and allowed her to receive the treatment she needed right away.
While Reveille X is not doing public appearances, the Aggie spirit is still alive and kicking. She will soon be back, tail wagging, and leading the 12th Man once again. Until then, we pray for a restorative and speedy recovery for Miss Rev and we thank the veterinary heroes along the way.
