Police have released the name of a 24-year-old man suspected in a series of bombings that has had the Austin area on edge for about three weeks.

Mark Anthony Conditt of Pflugerville was killed early Wednesday morning after authorities used cell phone triangulation and surveillance images to track him to a hotel near Round Rock, the Austin American-Statesman reports.

According to the Statesman, Conditt detonated a bomb inside his vehicle, which he had driven into a ditch near I-35, as a SWAT team surrounded it around 2 AM. An officer reportedly fired at the suspect at one point, and another officer who was near the blast was being treated for minor injuries Wednesday morning.

KXAN reports that police were asking people in Austin and surrounding communities to remain vigilant and cautious, as it is not known if the suspect sent or placed packages anywhere else before this morning's fatal confrontation.

KTRK-TV reports that two former roommates of Conditt's were being interviewed and appeared to be cooperating with police.

A social media photo has been circulating which some claim depicts the suspect as he appeared in 2013. We have chosen not to publish this photo, as there has been no confirmation that it is Conditt. You can view it here if you'd like.
