Bell County Fire Departments Want You To Check Your Smoke Alarms
The word is out about Daylight Saving Time this weekend, but even more important than changing your clocks is checking your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Changing the batteries once a year ensures things are working they way they should be and it keeps that annoying chirp from waking you up in the middle of the night. That always seems to happen to me when I have no replacement batteries at all. That's the worst.
The Temple Daily Telegram notes that all Bell County Fire Departments have a program that offers central Texans an opportunity to call the fire department and sign up for a time to have a brand new smoke detector installed and tested at no cost. They will even bring you replacement batteries for functioning alarms if you can't get any yourself.
Call for an appointment by dialing Temple Fire and Rescue at 254-298-5682.
