Belton Man Reportedly Beaten After Placing Plastic Bag Over 4-Year-Old Child’s Head
A Belton man is behind bars weeks after he reportedly put a plastic bag over a child's head and was beaten by the child's family in retaliation.
The Belton Police Department reports that 30-year-old Caleob Anthony Levalley was arrested Monday, March 22 at 11:45 AM. He's charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police have also arrested 40-year-old Marquis Anne Trevino, who's accused of failing to report abuse of a child.
Bell County Jail records indicated Levalley remained in custody Tuesday evening with bond set at $200,000. Trevino also remained in jail Tuesday with bond set at $5,000.
Levalley is accused of having placed a plastic bag over a 4-year-old child's head back in January.
Police became aware of the situation after responding to a family disturbance call around 9AM on January 30. 55-year-old Gilbert Trevino, 24-year-old Jacob Trevino, and 22-year old Trever Trevino were all arrested and charged with aggravated assault after police say they beat Levalley with brass knuckles and a vacuum.
Police say that as they were investigating the beating, it became clear that the Trevinos had beaten Levalley because of what he'd done to the child.
Levalley was treated for his injuries after the beating, but once investigators had a clearer picture of what happened, a warrant for his arrest was issued.
So, to sum up: Police responding to a man being beaten by several people discovered that the beating was in response to the man allegedly assaulting a child, and now that man has been arrested and charged.
Thankfully, police say the child is ok and did not need medical treatment.
