Capital Murder Charges Announced in Case of Local Rapper
Two suspects are now facing capital murder charges in connection to the death of a Central Texas rap artist.
According to a report from KWTX, Casey Wade Hughes, 23, and Justice Allen Stanford, 26, are now facing capital murder charges for the killing of Preston Scott, 29.
Scott was a local rapper and went by the stage name PJ OneEight. Scott was shot and killed April 1, 2019 at the intersection of Dallas Street and Carver Avenue in Waco. PJ OneEight was taken to a local hospital, where he was was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities found the suspects at gas station in Arkansas. A law enforcement officer was at the same gas station as the suspects and noticed suspicious behavior from Hughes. After checking the license plates on the vehicle the men were driving, the officer became aware that the vehicle was stolen.
The officer also determined that the men were wanted in connection with the shooting of Scott. The two suspects were arrested and are now currently incarcerated in the McLennan County Jail.
