Central Texans are making plans to honor and remember those murdered on 9/11.

9/11 Commemoration Schedule in Central Texas

Texans will come together this Thursday to remember those who were killed in the Islamic terror attacks on September 11, 2001. In Central Texas, the following events are scheduled for this Thursday.

First Responder Ceremony
Thursday, 8:30 a.m.
Central Fire Station - 210 N 3rd St

Killeen ISD
Freedom Walk
Thursday, 9:30 a.m.
Harker Heights High School

Waco
Waco Fire Department Observance Ceremonies (All fire stations)

• 7:40 am – All stations will move their vehicles outside.
• 7:46 am – Sounding of a general alarm. Firefighters will stand at attention to observe a moment of silence to remember when the first tower was struck by American Airlines flight 11.
• 8:03 am – 2nd sounding of a general alarm. Firefighters will stand at attention to observe a moment of silence to remember when the second tower was struck by United Airlines flight 175.
• 8:37 am – Dispatch will announce over the radio that all firefighters will stand at attention to observe a moment of silence to remember when the Pentagon was struck by American Airlines flight 77.
• 9:03 am – Radio Dispatch that all firefighters will stand at attention to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of to remember when United Airlines flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Stair Climb
Thursday, 5:30 a.m.
McLane Stadium

Participants can choose to climb 2,071 steps – the exact number of steps first responders climbed when they entered the Twin Towers to rescue those trapped within the two buildings.
