We don't mean to get Christmas started too early (we've still got Halloween and Thanksgiving to celebrate), but we do want to get the word out early about one of the most festive events of the holiday season returning to Central Texas.

The United Way of Central Texas will host its 10th annual Chrome & Carols Festival of Trees on Thursday, December 3. Tickets will go on sale the week of November 1, and the bidding will begin on some of the great items Santa dropped off early this year.

If you're not familiar with Chrome and Carols, it's the UWCT's way of raising funds to benefit our friends and neighbors in need while giving you a chance to enter a raffle for one of their beautiful, professionally decorated Christmas trees complete with gifts, or bid on awesome gift packages in their holiday auction.

This year, they're raffling 13 trees with over $1,000 worth of gifts under them. Again, those are professionally decorated trees, so not only do you get great gifts for the family, but a gorgeous tree to fill your house with Christmas cheer.

The silent auction will include a Chef's Package from HEB, Beer for a Year, a custom piece of furniture from RJ Wood Projects, a weekend at the Silos in Waco, a fishing trip, and a Grand Harley Davidson Tree. Winners will be announced on Dec. 3, and virtual bidding will begin as early as the week of Nov. 1.

Veshell Greene with the United Way of Central Texas tells us that last year's Chrome and Carols raised over $50,000 for community impact programs here in Central Texas.
