Rapid population expansion across Bell County is prompting local law enforcement to step up oversight of restricted commercial haul routes. Officials are concentrating enforcement efforts on designated "No Thru Truck" zones designed to shield rural subdivisions from heavy tractor-trailer traffic.

Hard Hit Traffic Areas of Bell County

The enforcement push targets several critical corridors including Triangle Road, Kuykendall Branch, Granger Road, and the unincorporated Prairie Dell community south of Salado. Officials say the problem with the influx of rig operators hauling loads up to 60,000 pounds is that the neighborhoods they are driving through do not have roads engineered for industrial weight.

Prairie Dell Roads Take a Beating

According to KCEN, Bell County Precinct 2 Constable Chris Bazar says restriction signs near Prairie Dell sat dormant for years while nearby quarry operations remained inactive. Recent residential development has exposed county roads to a vast amount of weight and traffic that was not foreseen at the time the roads were constructed. The constant impact of 30-ton vehicles causes asphalt dipping, shoulder erosion, and gravel displacement, creating safety hazards for local drivers and pedestrians.

Warnings Before Tickets

The Precinct 2 Constable's Office is partnering with local material suppliers before imposing fines to gain compliance. Deputies are conducting joint patrols alongside the Bell County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety to verify cargo security, review weight permits, and keep unauthorized commercial vehicles on approved state transit routes.
