ASTRA, a community service organization at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, in conjunction with the Bell County Animal Shelter, is reaching out to the Crusader community to collect items for animals in need.

Last month, ASTRA placed collection boxes in every UMHB dormitory and will bring them to the shelter after the drive concludes on October 12. Acceptable contributions  include cotton balls, towels, blankets, Q-tips and other items to help clean pets.

Adviser of the organization, Traci Squarcette, is excited to host an event that will benefit others. “I think it’s great that we can come together as a whole group and use our efforts and resources to help someone who has a need in the community,” she said.
