Copperas Cove police arrested a man allegedly involved in hit and run accident that took the life of 32 year old man.

According to Lt. Kevin Miller with the Copperas Cove Police Department, CCPD arrested Lance Tyler Anderson on January 13th and charged him with the second degree felony charge of accident involving personal injury or death.

According to CCPD, at approximately 6:40 A.M. on January 13th, Copperas Cove Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of South 7th Street and Urbantke Lane regarding a vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The initial investigation revealed that a white vehicle struck the pedestrian in the 600 block of Urbantke Lane and fled the scene.

The pedestrian was identified as 32-year-old William Devauri Ames and he was pronounced dead at 7:11 AM.

Police would later locate the vehicle and Anderson and arrest him. He's being held on a $100,000 surety bond.

According to our news partners at News 10, A special candlelight will be held in Ames’ honor on January 18th at the scene of the accident.
