Court Documents Expose Alleged Texts From Art Briles
A batch of text messages allegedly sent by former Baylor Coach Art Briles are causing a lot of controversy.
The messages allegedly sent by Briles refer to student athletes involved with guns, drugs, and even a student who exposed himself at a spa. Some of these allegedtexts have been published by DallasNews.com and can be seen online. A complete copy of court documents containing the texts in question can be found here.
Briles' alleged texts are coming to light as part of the lawsuit that involves former Baylor assistant A.D. Collin Shillinglaw. Shillinglaw is suing the university for defamation, saying he has been smeared as one of the bad guys in the ongoing football scandal. The former assistant is also suing several regents over the allegations.
Some of the regents have reportedly called the former assistant's lawsuit a 'smokescreen' to hide the activities of Coach Briles. The regents have released a series of text messages allegedly sent by Briles. These texts have been published by TMZ. The messages date back as far as April of 2011, and some are as recent as August of 2015.
