Texas is the second biggest state in the country, both by population and area. Texas occupies an area of about 268,820sq miles, with three of its boundaries defined by rivers.

So yeah, I just mentioned a few things, so you can really imagine how much Texas Is known for. We can now add that we're known for having the fastest highway in the nation.

U.S. Highway 130 is located just east of Austin, running between Georgetown and Seguin. There, drivers can hit a whopping 85mph.

Of course going that fast has to be dangerous, right? KXAN reports that at least 37 people have died on the 80 and 85 mph portions of SH 130, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Sixteen of those deaths were on the 85 mph section, which opened in 2012.

While many people may think it's cool to have the fastest highway in the nation, I'm with the group that says something should be done to get people to drive more safely if they're going to hit that highway.

If you ever take a ride on U.S. Highway 130, please be safe. It's no joke.
