Police Kill Texas Man Who Fired In A Gym During Children’s Summer Camp
The last thing parents from Duncanville, Texas expected once dropping off their children at Duncanville Fieldhouse for summer camp was that their kids would be in harm's way. Unfortunately, that’s not the sort of time we're living in.
WHAT HAPPENED IN DUNCANVILLE, TEXAS?
WFAA-TV reports that a man later identified as 42-year-old Brandon Keith Ned walked into the Duncanville Fieldhouse Monday with a gun and opened fire after a confrontation with an employee there.
Ned at first fired a shot in the facility's lobby, then fired another shot into a classroom full of children. He was fatally shot while reportedly exchanging fire with police inside a gym on the property.
WHO IS THE GUNMAN?
According to another report from WFAA, Brandon Keith Ned had been convicted of intoxication manslaughter in 2011. He caused a crash that got his passenger killed and served two years in prison.
Ned's felon status meant he wouldn't have been able to legally obtain a gun. It's unclear where he got the one he used Monday, or why he entered the facility and started shooting.
THANKFULLY, NO ONE ELSE WAS INJURED
The miracle we should all be thankful for is that no employees, kids, or officers were injured in this incident.
The camp holds ages from four years old to 14 and was beginning its second week The number of children and staff that are usually there is more than 250, so for no one to be harmed by the gunman is amazing.
What's sad is that this is reportedly the second time there's been a shooting incident at this location.
After what happened in Uvalde, we're all worried about sending our kids anywhere we don't personally have eyes on them. It truly is a miracle no children were harmed in this case.
